Two rescued from fire despite no fire alarm warning.

November 11, 2015

Fire crew from the London Fire Brigade were called to a house blaze in Kings Avenue in Woodford Green on the morning of 4th November after reports of two people being trapped on the first floor.

The fire services had to use a triple extension ladder from the first floor window in order to get the occupants to safety, where they were both treated at the scene for slight smoke inhalation.

A large part of the ground floor had been damaged by fire and the rest of detached property suffered moderate smoke damage. The fire was discovered by one of the occupants who smelled smoke and quickly raised the alarm.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said “it was lucky the occupants became aware of the fire as there were no smoke alarms fitted in the property to alert them to the blaze. Everyone should have at least one smoke alarm on every level of their home and the safest option is to have those linked together. This will give the earliest warning if there is a fire in your home.”

The London Fire Brigade and Fire Investigators are currently looking in to the possible cause of the fire.
